Jill lived on a farm with a red barn full of animals and hay. She lived in a farmhouse with her mother and father and little sister, Kelly.
One time Jill and Kelly’s aunt and uncle came to visit. They brought their two children, Jeff and Rachel. Jeff was Jill’s age, and Rachel was two years older than Jill.
All the children wanted to see the animals, so Jill and Jeff and Rachel went running toward the barn to see the new baby calf. But Kelly couldn’t keep up; she couldn’t run as fast as the bigger kids. And when she got to the pen she was too short to see over the fence.
“C’mon, I’ll show you the chickens!” said Jill. And off they ran again to the chicken coop by the barn. But Kelly couldn’t keep up. She was sad.
“C’mon, I’ll show you the cats in the hayloft!” said Jill. She ran to a ladder in the barn and climbed up. Jeff and Rachel climbed after her. Soon they were all standing in the sweet-smelling hay. But Kelly couldn’t climb the ladder. She stood at the bottom of the ladder and cried.
“Kelly wants to see the animals too,” Rachel said.
“What can we do?” asked Jeff.
Jill thought for a moment. Then she said, “Let’s take a cat down for her to see.”
“Yes,” said Rachel. “And if we walk slower, she can keep up with us.”
“And we can hold her up to see over the fence,” said Jeff. “That way she can see all the animals too!”
And that’s what they did. When Kelly saw the kitten they brought down, she stopped crying. When she saw that the others were going to walk slowly enough so she could keep up, she smiled. When they held her up to see the rabbits, she clapped her hands and laughed happily. This made Jill and Jeff and Rachel laugh too.

Dear Jesus, thank you for being kind to me and help me when I need you. I pray that you will teach me to love my parents, my siblings, my friends and be kind to them. I pray in Jesus name, Amen!
